These unique specimens were formed thousands of years ago, made of fine sand, clay and calcite, then cemented/fossilized by Mother Nature. The originality and the forms of these stones are a phenomenon unique to Canada, on the bottom of the big Lakes with a glacier origin. The face of the concretion is usually smooth and regular sometimes rough with bubbly spheres. The irregular lines on certain stones are caused by the traces left by miniature worms or organic remains which were fossilized thousands of years ago.
These fairy stones have a natural shape of smooth, flattened discs with one or more discs growing together forming irregular and smooth shapes. No two stones are alike. Each one is unique and carries a gentle, loving energy. The colors range from dark grey to white and some are sandy beige to gray. Usually one side is smooth and the other side having irregular markings from fossil micro-organisms which resemble fossilized plant life.
